Researchers at Oxford University wanted to find out how well COVID-19 vaccines protect people of different weights from hospitalisation and death. Dr. Carmen Piernas from the University of Oxford said, "The first important result is that vaccines work well for people of all sizes, which is great news." Scientists looked at the medical records of more than 9 million people in the UK and measured their body mass index (BMI), which is based on their height and weight. Dr. Piernas, who led the study, says that not everyone is the same: "In vaccinated people, there are still cases, and in those cases, we see a higher risk of severe COVID in people who are both overweight and underweight."
